What is the GMAT Focus Edition?

With changing business scenario, revamping GMAT was inevitable. Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC), the controlling body of the GMAT exam has recognized this need and has brought in some welcome changes to the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT). The revamped exam is known as the GMAT Focus Edition 2024, which was launched on November 7, 2023 by GMAC. The newly launched exam’s main objective is to evaluate and adjudge candidate’s suitability for business courses in a better manner. The “GMAT Focus Edition” name was kept distinct as till the first half of July’24 both the old and new exams were available to be given by the aspirants. As of July,’24, the old GMAT exam was completely done away with and the new version acquired the old name of the exam i.e the "GMAT Exam".

The GMAT Exam consists of three sections :-

  1. Quantitative Reasoning: 21 Questions, 45 minutes
  2. Verbal Reasoning: 23 Questions, 45 minutes
  3. Data Insights: 20 Questions, 45 minutes

Duration of the GMAT Test - 2 hours 15 minutes (with an optional 10 min break)

Total Number of Questions - 64

Total Score Range - 205 - 805 with an interval of 10 points

Scaled score rang -: 60-90 in each section

The GMAT latest edition brings many significant changes for the better evaluation of the GMAt aspirants. Some of the latest features of the new GMAT are listed beloe:

  1. The test now comprises of 3 sections (Quantitative Reasoning, Verbal Reasoning, and Data Insights) instead of 4.
  2. To make it concise, the exam duration has been reduced from 187 minutes to 135 minutes.
  3. You can now opt to review and edit your answers.
  4. Improved and detailed official score report within 3-5 days*
  5. Content changes in the Quantitative and Verbal sections.
  6. The scaled total score range has been changed from 200-800 to 205-805.

  5. Pay the Exam Fees of USD 275 for the test center exam or USD 300 for online exam

GMAT Results & Score

GMAT gives out a score in the range of 200 to 800. The average score is currently 556, but premium colleges outside India may demand a score of 650+ to offer you an admission.
